About Official UK Driving Theory Test
It is mandatory to pass two tests before obtaining a driving license in the UK. They are:
- Theory test
- The practical driving test
However, you are eligible for the practical driving test only after passing the theory test. This theory test is conducted primarily for the following reasons:
Qualifications
Those wishing to take the theory test must possess the following qualifications:
- ✅ Must be at least 17 years old for a car or bike license.
- ✅ Must be at least 16 years old for a moped license.
- ✅ Must hold a valid UK provisional driving license.
- ✅ Must be able to read a number plate from a distance of 20 meters.
- ✅ Must be a resident of the UK.
What will be there in the driving theory test?
The theory test is divided into two parts and is conducted on the same day. However, both parts must also be passed on the same day. They are:
1. Multiple choice questions
There are a total of 50 questions in multiple-choice format. The duration of the examination will be 57 minutes. To pass this examination, a minimum of 43 marks out of a total of 50 must be obtained.
2. Hazard Perception Test
This is the second part of the theory test. It is designed to test your ability to anticipate and react to hazards, rather than in the form of questions.
- ✅ In this, 14 video clips are shown. You need to watch them and identify the hazards in each one.
- ✅ 13 video clips contain one hazard each, and one video clip contains two hazards.
- ✅ This means that there are a total of 15 hazards. Each hazard carries a maximum of 5 marks.
- ✅ To pass this, you must score at least 44 marks out of 75 marks.
- ✅ The duration of this test is approximately 20 minutes.
